I’m not a purist, but I do enjoy taking photos. I’ve had one Olympus 35 mm camera & this is my 4th or 5th Olympus digital cam. This is the only one that broke under warranty. It was quickly repaired & sent back & has been fine. I have the pink one. I guess it’s silly, but it’s nice to have a camera that looks pretty, too. The only complaint is that it sometimes seems to take a few seconds to “write” the image to the SD card. Other than that, this is a great cam (that also does videos) for someone who just wants to easily take very nice photos.

my wife has a nikon D80. i thought this bag would be a perfect bag for going hiking so that she wouldnt have to carry a backpack to take off every time she wanted to take a picture. with this she can keep the camera on her hip and pull it out when desired.
The only things we dont like about the bag are that it is a little small for a DSLR with an extra lens. it works…but its tight. i also bought her the extended grip battery pack which makes things tigher…but once again…we have made it work. other than the tight fit…the velcro on the adjustable partitions inside is a little weak.
all in all, the quality is very good. if my wife is hiking, she may just learn to start carrying one lens. for the 30 bucks i spent…i dont think we could have done any better.

If you are interested in photography but confused about the many things you need to learn, a camera is certainly where you’ll want to begin. Choosing a camera can be a tricky job, especially when you don’t know what to look for, why you need to look for it and what difference it makes if you didn’t find it. Of course, there are many brands, many specifications, many features and simply many types of cameras that you could choose from. But knowledge of which one of these you should get is one of the most important things you need to gain if you’re going to be successful as a photographer.
Needless to say, it is essential for you to get the camera that will satisfy you the most because this will determine the worthiness of our new hobby. You may even want it for a career later on, but initially, you need to get down to the camera you’ll be using. For example, if you’re thinking of buying a digital camera, you have to consider megapixels. Megapixels are units of resolution capability that a digital camera possesses. The more megapixels, the sharper your images will be and the more freedom you have with the size of your photos. So if you have a 2-megapixel device, you cannot enlarge your photos without diminishing quality. But if you shoot with a 6-megapixel camera, you can enlarge them with minimal effect on color and sharpness.
Features are another thing you’ll want to look into when choosing a camera. There are some with numerous advanced capabilities and other with a few basic ones. If you won’t be needing anything special such as intricate lighting adjustments for landscape photography, for instance, you can buy a camera that has few but very handy features.
Depending on your subjects, you will need to consider speed as well as you decide which camera to use. If you’ll be using it on moving subjects, you can get an automatic camera so you need not bother to adjust lighting, aperture or focus settings. But if landscapes or buildings appeal to you more, then you can enjoy the freedom of manipulating a manual camera to suit your preferences.
As for brands, of course, the more established names will probably give you better products than anything else. After all, they’re not famous for nothing. Still, the name of your device will not guarantee the overall quality of your shoots. It will still be you, your skill and your mastery of your subject and camera that will matter in the end. After all, that camera is but a tool and it is still your expertise as a photographer that should be captured the most by the pictures you take.

I’ve owned one of these for over three years now and have taken about 35,000 photos with it. I’ve never had it cleaned or serviced (I’m thinking about doing so, but the photos are still looking beautiful) and have used it in rain and snow, temperatures from -20 to 110 (F), low light, bright light, etc. without problems. I’ve even dropped it a couple times (though not on super hard surfaces) and it doesn’t seem damaged in any way. The auto setting works great, but I use it in manual a lot, if for nothing more than to take advantage of the RAW setting. I expect it to last several more years and will definitely buy Canon in the future.

The benefits of a network security camera system extend beyond the functionality that an analog security camera system can provide. The advantages include remote accessibility, high image quality, even management and intelligent video capabilities, easy integration possibilities and better scalability, flexibility and cost-effectiveness.
A network system allows multiple users to access, configure, view live and recorded video at anytime from anywhere in the world with an internet connection. This allows for a third-party company, such as a security firm, to provide additional services such as diagnosing problems or monitoring the system. With an analog CCTV system, you would have to be at the monitoring site to view and manage video, and remote video access would require installation of additional equipment such as a video encoder or a network digital video recorder (DVR). A DVR is the digital version of a video cassette recorder.
When there is a need for high quality images to identify people’s faces or detailed objects, network security cameras with progressive scan and megapixel technologies can deliver better image quality and higher resolution than an analog CCTV camera. Image quality is also better retained in a network security camera system than an analog camera system. With analog systems that use DVR, there has to be conversions from analog to digital in the camera, then converted back to analog to transport through the analog cables, then again to digital to be recorded. With each conversion the image quality is degraded. Analog video signals also become weaker the more cabling it has to travel through. In a fully digital system, images are digitized once in the network camera and stay digital so there is minimal degradation.
All network security products are built to an open standard can be integrated with computers and Ethernet-based devices and software. Also, as the video system grows, the scalability and flexibility of a network security system comes in extremely handy. Any number of cameras and devices can be added to the system minimal invasion to the infrastructure already in place. In an analog system, each camera needs a cable running directly from the security camera to the monitoring station. Network cameras can be placed and networked or removed from virtually anywhere. For this reason, once the network system is already in place, it is much more cost effective than an analog system on the basis of the flexibility alone. Network cables and wireless devices are also cheaper than traditional cabling for analog systems.

A digital camera produces excellent photographs. For many years however, professional photographers have discussed the drawbacks to the digital camera from the perspective of image quality which does not always match that available through a traditional 35mm film camera. The convenience afforded by going digital however far outweighs the minor loss in perceptible quality for most consumers.
For millions of potential camera shoppers, choosing the smallest, lightest camera is most important while others may wish to hold down costs or only share photos online where image quality is limited anyway. For these and other shoppers, finding and paying for a more costly camera may be unnecessary. But for those who strive to capture images that record the most accurate and color correct images, there are choices they can make during the shopping process that can help to assure they end up with equipment that will be capable of producing outstanding images.
The primary decision is not about megapixels; or at least not entirely. A digital camera with 10 megapixels does not necessarily produce a better image than a camera with only 6 megapixels. Megapixels are important and a camera must have enough of them to provide adequate image information for the size print being produced so that there is less noise and better clarity in the resulting image. Unless a consumer plans on producing very large images, 5 megapixels is generally sufficient and 3-4 may be enough if prints will be 5×7 or smaller.
The sensor which captures the light entering the camera lens is even more critical however. The sensor stores and displays data, converting the light into electrons. The sensor can be either CCD (charge-coupled device) or CMOS (complementary metal oxide semiconductor). CCD is the more mature technology and produces images with less noise. They also tend to be more expensive and consume more power but for those seeking the highest quality images, a CCD is the better choice at this time.
An important aspect of the CCD is the actual size of the sensor. Larger sensors provide higher resolution and less noise. Understanding how the size of the CCD sensor influences the quality of images and knowing what size sensor is adequate requires a bit more study. There are several articles available on line which could prove valuable for those wishing to learn more about this topic. Articles at http://www.photo.net/equipment/digital/sensorsize/ and http://www.photo.net/equipment/digital/basics/ are well written and knowledgeable.
A final consideration regarding the sensor in a digital camera is the availability of 1 CCD and 3 CCD models. As one might suspect more is often better. A camera with 1 CCD picks up image and color information through a single sensor. A model with 3 CCD has a sensor that picks up each of the different colors (Red, Green, and Blue) resulting in superior color reproduction.
Certainly the selection of a CCD sensor over a CMOS sensor, a larger sensor, or more sensors is not required in order to own a high quality digital camera capable of producing very good images. However, these features certainly do significantly enhance image quality and are the focus of attention for those seeking to produce the sharpest and most vivid images.

It has been more than 30 years since the seed for the first digital camera was laid by sputnik spacecraft, which necessitated the need for digital camera to transmit images as and when it was taken. It has been an eventful journey to this day when we are venturing into the field of 3D digital photography. Starting from the models which are too huge to even hang on one’s neck, we now have models that are so compact that they can fit into our pockets with great ease. But with this exponential growth, came the dilemma of choosing the best digital camera. That is when the level of photography expertise came into play.
Canon, Kodak, Sony, Olympus and Nikon are some of the leaders in the digital camera business. All these top brands always concentrate on just a few key features that define good digital photograph. Any new model addresses one or more of these features and enhances them.
From novice to professional photographers, megapixel count always holds a sway. But, that is one common mistake we blindly make. Beyond 7 megapixels, it does not in any way increase the clarity of the picture for higher pixels. The difference can only be felt if we are going to take large prints, which will yield different results for different resolutions.
The latest arrival on the digital scene is Leica X1 which was released on December 18th. This German model is a welcome break for the field because it marks a significant period of compact cameras with large sensors. Equipped with 12.2 MP on a CMOS APS-C sensor which offers an angle of view comparable to 35 mm lens, it is highly recommended for professional photographers interested in large prints.
The digital photography world is polarized into the ordinary and expert photographers. For an ordinary user, not used to the technical terms of photography, single-lens reflex camera is an obfuscation. The more the manual features are, the greater are the chances of flexibility offered for the photographers. Hence the DSLR and SLR camera have plenty of manual functions to adjust every feature such as aperture, ISO, exposure settings and many more. Canon digital cameras are into the noble task of blurring the line between professional and novice users.
The Canon Powershot series is preferred by all categories of photography enthusiasts. The new arrival in the Powershot family, Powershot G11 is indeed promising with its increased manual mode, high zoom range and sturdy build. Released almost around the same time, Canon Powershot A1100 IS caters to the requirements of cost-conscious photographers and beginners. However it never fails the user expectations. It has the face recognition and scene recognition features too.
Affordability may not be the first thing in the minds of true photography buffs. But, if comparable features are provided then, it is natural that the more affordable camera will be picked. This is what is tapped by the latest Pentax-k7 which is a greatly affordable DSLR camera which poses serious threat to Nikon and Canon in the DSLR scene. Compared to bulky DSLRs like Nikon D300 and Olympus E-3, the pentax-k7 is a small, compact and light DSLR in the market.
Another exciting feature is, it demonstrates that if we can watch HD prints then we can shoot HD prints as well. Yes! The sensor offers live view as well as the ability to capture HD video.
The latest digital camera with lots of enhancements does not mean the best of features. It is a need-driven market where the best camera for our need should be opted for. If natural scenery brings an enthusing feeling, then a digital camera with minimum 6x zoom is preferred. So, a Canon Powershot is more desirable than a Canon IXUS, in spite of the latter being the most compact of the two because Powershot serves our purpose better in this case. Ask yourself a set of questions on what is actually the requirement and then shortlist the cameras based on the requirements and budget constraints. Make sure to get the latest and the best. Click away with joy!
